- ➤ The city of Surprise will host its Backyard Bash: '90s Edition in February after last year’s rain canceled the original event (officials promise a night of throwback music and neon nostalgia). Surprise Independent
- ➤ Surprise hosted its 10th annual Dr. MLK Jr. Day of Celebration and Service where Christopher T. Pullins (Mayo Clinic board-certified physician and Surprise resident) stressed the value of caring beyond exam rooms and home visits. The event highlights the city's commitment to community service. - ➤ More than 2,000 dogs and over 200 breeds will gather at Mark Coronado Park for the Kachina Kennel Club Copper Classic Dog Show from Friday, Jan. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 25 (admission and parking are free). - ➤ Arizona high school seniors who complete the 2026–27 FAFSA form at CollegeReadyAZ.com will be eligible for up to four free spring training tickets to games at Cactus League ballparks + blackout dates apply; spring training begins Feb. 20 and runs through March 24. ABC15
- ➤ Freedom Traditional Academy, one of Arizona’s top-ranked tuition-free schools, will host an open house on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at 16066 N.
