- ➤ The Back Nine Golf opened 24/7 at 14420 W. Elm St. in Surprise after a Jan. 28 ribbon cutting and public open house with contests and raffles. Owners Michele Mitchell and Rob Camacho (a PGA member) led the celebration alongside city officials. Surprise Independent

- ➤ The Northwest Maricopa County League of Women Voters is hosting a tea and video performance of Elaine Bromka’s off-Broadway one-woman show (Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat and Betty) at The Colonnade in Surprise on Saturday, March 7 from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Tickets cost $50. Surprise Independent
- ➤ The Desert Aires Barbershop Chorus will perform “Everyone in Harmony” at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Sundial auditorium (14801 N. 103rd Ave) to celebrate 50 years of barbershop music. - ➤ The Dysart Unified School District saw five staff members earn National Board certifications and 16 renew their credentials this year — raising the total to 67 certified educators. The move strengthens teaching standards in local schools. Surprise Independent
