- ➤ A three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display as a free public exhibit at Mark Coronado Park (15960 N. Bullard Ave) from April 9 to April 12, with daily events planned and volunteers needed to help honor service members. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Students at Luke Elementary practiced financial skills during an ACEE Financial Fitness in Action event, where they simulated budgeting and spending in a post-high school exercise (hosted by the Arizona Council on Economic Education with assistance from school staff and community volunteers). - ➤ The Kansas City Royals signed veteran catcher Elias Díaz to a minor league deal on Friday and he will join the big league camp next week in Surprise. Díaz, 35, hit .204 with nine homers last season for the Padres and was an All-Star with Colorado in 2023. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Campo Verde girls basketball defeated Valley Vista 56-39 on Feb. 19 in the Open Division tournament as freshman (Jaiyana Bogan-Jacobs) powered the Coyotes ahead. Campo Verde advanced to the Elite 8 while Valley Vista moved to the 6A bracket. Surprise Independent
