- ➤ On Feb. 21, around 500 volunteers at Sunflower Resort packaged rice and bean meals for the 11th annual Food for Kidz event and donated them to the Valley View Community Food Bank (which benefits families during slower donation months). Surprise Independent
- ➤ The city and Capably are co-hosting a free workshop to help nonprofits improve fundraising from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 12 at the Surprise Regional Library Programming Room (16089 N. Bullard Ave); up to 20 organizations may join with three participants each. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Two dozen members of a Surprise church returned home safely after an emergency evacuation from Israel when war involving Iran erupted over a week ago during a Holy Land tour led by Pastors Marks and Long. They plan to return next year. ABC15

- ➤ Saturday, around 8,000 music fans will gather at Mark Coronado Park for the Out of the Park Music Festival, the first major display from the city's new entertainment division. The rebranded team aims to deliver a full year of live events. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Drivers face a rise in fuel costs today as gas prices average over $4 a gallon in the Valley, AAA said. Shelly Heisner of the Diner on Wheels food truck noted higher fuel costs are pushing up ingredient prices and experts advise filling up before the tank is nearly empty. ABC15
