- ➤ Benevilla’s Dinner in the Desert fundraiser held on Feb. 28 at the Barn at Desert Foothills raised a record $114,000 for community programs—guests enjoyed dinner and dancing while CEO Joanne Byers thanked supporters for their dedication. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Make-A-Wish America begins World Wish Month this April to grant wishes for children with serious illnesses, marking 45 years since it was founded in Arizona. The organization has granted more than 600,000 wishes worldwide + it now seeks community support as 550 kids await their dreams to come true +. ABC15
- ➤ The organizers of Arizona Gives Day 2025 say nonprofits have struggled from federal funding cuts and revoked grants. Nearly 800 nonprofits will participate in the event — all donations are tax-deductible — and supporters may qualify for state tax credits. ABC15

- ➤ Aeromexico and Delta airlines began daily direct flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor to Mexico City on March 30, offering over 2,000 round-trip seats per week on Boeing 737 Max aircraft—Aeromexico now serves its 25th U.S. destination. They will soon add new routes to Philadelphia and San Luis Potosí—Atlanta later this year. ABC15

- ➤ Surprise will host a Lunchtime Theater event on Thursday, April 10 with New Carpa Theater showing the one-man play 'The Two Souls of Cesar Chavez' by James E. Garcia. - ➤ Yesterday, the city of Surprise released a spoof IKEA catalog called the Surprise Collection that featured furniture designs inspired by local charm and urged residents to visit the IKEA website to share why they want a store in town. - ➤ The Rotary Club of Surprise and Sun City West has partnered with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to give free books to children in Surprise from birth to age 5.
