  • Surprise libraries are kicking off 'Spring into the Library Week' from April 12 to 19 with family programs and a release of ladybugs — planned for 10:30 a.m. at Surprise Regional on April 12, 3:30 p.m. at Hollyhock on April 16, and 10:30 a.m. at Asante on April 19.  Surprise Independent

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Intel Corp and TSMC tentatively agreed to form a joint venture to run Intel's chip factories in Arizona—other U.S. chip makers will hold the majority while TSMC takes a 20% stake; both companies did not respond to requests for comment on the deal reported on Thursday.  ABC15

CRIME NEWS

  • Opening statements for Lori Daybell’s first Arizona trial will occur Monday, April 7 as she faces charges for conspiring to murder her fourth husband—Daybell, already serving a life sentence in Idaho, will represent herself while prosecutors plan to introduce new evidence.  ABC15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Surprise Police Department is accepting public comment on its service and performance as part of its CALEA accreditation process from April 1 to May 31 & residents may submit anonymous feedback that will be compiled into a report for the department.  Surprise Independent

SPORTS NEWS

  • Willow Canyon baseball worked hard to lift their offense after averaging less than five runs a game last season— the Wildcats have scored more in recent matchups and now show signs of a breakthrough season in Surprise.  Surprise Independent
