- ➤ Gas prices in Surprise are about $4.99 per gallon at most stations, but a Safeway (13884 W. Waddell Road) offers gas at $4.89 while Fry’s next door charges $4.94. AAA Arizona reported the national average recently rose above $4 after four years of lower prices. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Willow Canyon High School will start a U.S. Marine Corps JROTC program for the 2026-27 school year (at 17901 W. Lundberg St.) after approval by the Dysart Governing Board on March 30, and local students will gain up to four levels of leadership education. Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire Station 305 at 15517 N. Parkview Place will receive a new bathroom and enlarged living space for its 12-member crew later this summer—its first major upgrade in 20 years as it manages increasing call volumes. Surprise Independent
