  • Target will open its second store in Surprise Sunday, April 13 at 14101 N. Prasada Parkway. The 151,000 square foot store will have a fresh produce section, a Disney Store at Target shop in shop, Starbucks Café and CVS pharmacy (employing over 200 team members) and will operate from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.  Surprise Independent

  • According to Bankrate data, the average household income needed to afford a typical home in Arizona is now $122,000—up $50,000 from 2020 when it was about $71,000—and rising housing costs may force buyers to reassess their options.  ABC15

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dysart Unified School District was voted the Favorite Public School District for the third straight year (by West Valley Favorites via Independent Newsmedia). The A-rated district also earned extra awards for its preschool, festival, youth group, arts venue and a teacher.  Surprise Independent
  • Dysart Unified School District will hold a career fair for its Ready2Teach Educator Preparation Program to help those with a non-education bachelor’s degree become teachers. The fair runs from 3 to 6 p.m. on April 24 at 13825 W. Desert Cove Road — walk-ins welcome — and applicants must bring a current resume and valid fingerprint clearance.  Surprise Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • AZ Blue and Phoenix Fire will assemble 15,000 heat relief and first aid kits—distributed by the Valley of the Sun United Way—to help vulnerable people during the state’s extremely hot months across Maricopa, Mohave, Pima and Yuma counties.  ABC15
