EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Registration for a summer camp for children ages 5 to 12 is open through Dysart’s Community Education program, which will run from May 28 to July 18 and offer arts, STEM projects, robotics and gaming as well as off-site field trips. The camp at Rancho Gabriela Elementary School operates weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and costs $161 for four days or $183 for five days. Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Surprise Fire-Medical Department received two funding awards to cover personnel and service expenses for its community paramedicine program. They got a $100,000 award from Banner University Family Care Community Reinvestment to help pay for overtime, training and supplies + another award to fund community outreach events such as car seat clinics and programs for expectant mothers. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Benevilla is partnering with local providers for a free Wellness Resource Fair to help older adults learn about healthy aging. The event will be held on Thursday, April 17 at the Ottawa University Student Union from 9 a.m. to noon—attendees can receive free vaccines, medication reviews and healthy cooking tips. LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Adi Singh—who has practiced Kundalini Yoga for over 40 years—leads free donation-only yoga sessions nearly every day in Coronado area parks. His outdoor classes, begun after COVID, help many manage stress. ABC15
