- ➤ Surprise residents, faith leaders and community members will gather on Thursday, May 7 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the police courtyard for the annual National Day of Prayer event—an opportunity to unite in prayer for the city, Arizona and the nation. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Surprise resident Johnathan Smith, a mentalist (overcoming his stutter), will perform at the Taste of Surprise festival on April 25 as part of an annual event. He uses mind reading, hypnosis, and humor to entertain local families. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dysart High School became the fourth school in the district to earn Purple Star status for its strong support of military families. The school held a celebration and ribbon cutting on April 13 to recognize students, parents + staff. Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Surprise Resource Center will partner with Maricopa County Superior Court to offer a Connect with the Court law clinic that helps residents complete forms for matters such as divorce, child custody, and name changes. The clinic is held from 10 a.m. to noon every fourth Tuesday at (12425 W. Bell Road). Surprise Independent
