- ➤ Surprise will host its first jigsaw puzzle competition from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, May 2 at Asante Library at 16755 W. Vereda Solana Drive. Six teams of two to four players will race to complete a 300-piece puzzle in under two hours and one team member must register by calling 623—222—2940. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Scheller Insurance Agency held its ribbon cutting ceremony on April 22 with Mayor Kevin Sartor and held its public opening on April 26 at 15278 W. Bell Road, Suite 109 in Surprise—marking the agency’s official debut. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two Dysart High School seniors, Madilyn Cortez Pantaleon and Zarayha Rentaria, have been awarded the Dell Scholarship—one of 500 given nationwide that provides $20,000, a laptop, and textbook credits. Pantaleon will attend Arizona State University downtown while Rentaria will join Grand Canyon University in the fall. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Arizona families can start an AZ529 Education Savings Plan to move disappearing expenses like diapers and daycare into an account that grows tax-free and helps pay for future tuition and fees. The plan offers low-cost contributions starting at $15 a month and lets eligible contributions be deducted on state income taxes (up to $4,000 for joint filers or $2,000 for single filers).
