- ➤ Laura Blain from Trivium Preparatory Academy won first place at WHAM’s fourth West Valley Youth Poetry Competition on Apr. 10 + her award celebrated teen creativity from across the region. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Education leaders, school advocates, and business partners have formed a coalition to fight misinformation and share positive news from public schools. The coalition, led by Dr. Michael Winters (Saddle Mountain Unified) and Dr. Kimberly Guerin (Madison Elementary), met Wednesday with superintendents and partners to respond quickly to negative stories. - ➤ The Dysart Unified School District has set graduation times for its four high schools next month at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale. Willow Canyon will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Dysart High at 12:30 p.m., Shadow Ridge at 3 p.m., and Valley Vista at 5:30 p.m. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Pei Wei has announced that on Thursday, April 30, a portion of every Honey Seared Chicken order will go toward helping Dalton, an 8-year-old heart patient from Queen Creek now at Phoenix Children's with a cold and facing financial hardship. Dalton’s food reviews prompted the restaurant’s support. ABC15
