ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A Gallup poll released Wednesday shows 7 in 10 Americans oppose AI data centers due to concerns over water and energy use. Arizona communities are weighing future projects like Buckeye’s data center, which plans to use less water, against effects on quality of life. ABC15
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ASU Prep Polytechnic Preschool is hosting campus tours for families beginning early enrollment for the 2026-27 school year. The tours will offer insight into curriculum and facilities (inquiries at the school office). Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Farmers in Gila County and nearby areas can apply for USDA low-interest loans to recover from fall flooding damage. The Arizona Department of Agriculture said the loans help cover losses in livestock, feed, and infrastructure, with applications accepted until (Sept. 8). ABC15
- ➤ ADOT will start a three-year, $192-million project to build an elevated HOV-lane bridge between I-10 and Loop 101 near downtown beginning this weekend. Southbound Loop 101 between Indian School Road and I-10 will close from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. ABC15
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Tickets are on sale for the Big 12 Conference postseason baseball tournament, which will be hosted in Surprise from May 19-23. The tournament will feature 12 teams with first pitch set at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 and the championship game airing on ESPN2 at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 23. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Arizona fighter Eitan Kagan trains in Scottsdale as he aims for a UFC bout scheduled for June 14 on the White House lawn; local gyms forge a strong culture that shapes fighters' resilience in the Valley. ABC15
- ➤ TKO Group Holdings Inc. signed a multi-year deal with the Arizona Sports & Events Alliance to schedule seven UFC, WWE, PBR & Zuffa Boxing events in the Valley over the next three years. The company said the series will showcase some of its biggest events. ABC15
