- ➤ Shake Shack held its ribbon cutting on May 21 at 16470 W. Waddell Road where city officials joined the grand opening in Surprise. The restaurant donated $1 per burger and chicken sandwich purchase to St. Mary’s Food Bank—part of its Stand for Something Good mission. Surprise Independent

- ➤ The Actors PLAYground Theater at 11340 W. Bell Road is presenting Anne of Green Gables in east Surprise to bring L.M. Montgomery’s classic story of Anne Shirley to life — the play runs over two weekends with evening shows on May 30, May 31, June 6, and June 7 and matinees on June 1 and June 8, with tickets at $18 for adults and $10 for children 10 and under.
