- ➤ The Surprise Parks and Recreation Department began improvements at Surprise Community Park and Gaines Park Monday. The playground at Surprise Community Park (16089 N. Bullard Ave.) will reopen Saturday after crews finish resealing its surfacing. Surprise Independent

- ➤ EoS Fitness celebrated the opening of its third gym in Surprise last month at 16475 W. Cactus Road. The 40,000 sqft facility offers cardio and strength equipment + personal training options, marking its 44th location in Arizona and 225th nationwide. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Former Axon executive Pat Madden launched Deus X Defense to offer integrated drone and manned security services for local events and businesses; the startup already employs 500 staff following two acquisitions and is set to expand its reach in the region (including Surprise). ABC15
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Motorists in northwest Surprise will see more traffic relief as work starts on the final phase of the 163rd Avenue Improvement Project between Happy Valley and Jomax roads. The project, part of a 2023 bond, is expected to finish in about 15 months + early fall. Surprise Independent
