- ➤ The Maricopa County Attorney's Office brought nearly 350 death penalty cases over the past 20 years but only 41 ended with a death sentence. Experts and attorneys said the low rate raised serious concerns given the cases cost at least $300 million — and likely more since some agencies did not provide full figures. ABC15
- ➤ Investigative reporters from ABC15 and ProPublica revealed that Maricopa County has kept its process for selecting death penalty cases secret + nearly 350 cases have been filed over two decades with only 41 leading to a death sentence.
