- ➤ Maricopa County landlords filed over 87,000 evictions last year and local help organizations are fielding about 300 calls each month to stop another record year of evictions. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arizona school districts and charter schools may receive only 60% of their monthly Basic State Aid this month because of a $200 million shortfall announced by the state education department. School officials said a new budget or supplemental funding is needed by June 13 — and full payments will follow once the shortfall is covered. ABC15
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Joseph Perko, a recent Paradise Honors High School graduate, earned the Founders Scholarship from the Junior Golf Association of Arizona as one of 14 student-athletes to share $90,000 in awards. The scholarship honors his leadership in golf and academic potential. Surprise Independent
