- ➤ Surprise resident Bob Higgins completed his 11th consecutive bicycle ride on the East Coast to raise donations for ALS research during the Tri-State Trek on June 21 and 22, although a rain storm cut much of the 200-mile ride short as only 75 riders risked dangerous conditions on the second day—Higgins chose to ride safely and raised nearly $27,000 toward his goal.
