- ➤ Surprise children aged 5 to 17 can join a ceramic mug painting event at the Surprise Regional Library this week where they will design a mug, heat it in a kiln, and then use it at home. The event will run from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 at 16089 N. Bullard Ave — registration is required — and guests without a library card can sign up by calling 623-222-2901. - ➤ A new indoor play and learning center called Surprise and Shine, designed for kids 6 months to 7 years old, celebrated its grand opening on June 30—part of a four-day event—with a ribbon cutting at 11294 W. Bell Road attended by Mayor Kevin Sartor, Councilmember Earle Greenberg and owner Roze Pineda. The center is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and charges $17.99 for open play or tiered memberships. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dysart Unified School District will reopen all K-12 school offices tomorrow for in-person enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year, and families must bring a photo ID, birth certificate, proof of residency, and immunization records while they also apply online. Surprise Independent

- ➤ The city of Surprise is holding a public auction of file cabinets and computer equipment that will run until 8 p.m. Monday, July 14.
