CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Thunderbirds Charities donated $5,000 to Surprise’s Teen WHAM Art Program to supply young artists with essential materials for their projects. The program meets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays at the WHAM Art Center on N. Dysart Road—helping to fill the gap left by reduced school art programs. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Highland Prep, a STEM-focused college-preparatory high school, announced a new program in partnership with Project Lead the Way and the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation to let students earn certifications in pre-engineering and robotics. The program will build problem-solving and teamwork skills at their school on 15600 W. Hearn Road — a step designed to open up future STEM career opportunities. Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At SRP’s specialized tech lab, every safety tool—gloves, blankets, and protective mats—undergoes rigorous testing so linemen can quickly restore power during severe weather. The lab subjects items to high-voltage tests and supports 2,200 linemen with equipment used throughout the year. ABC15
