GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local school officials and community advocates have raised concerns about the planned BNSF Railway Logistics Park Phoenix near 215th Avenue and U.S. 60 over potential truck traffic and pollution risks to homes and local schools. BNSF officials countered the claims by saying that enhanced safety measures and traffic improvements—designed to cut train traffic—will protect hospital access and boost economic gains when construction begins later this year. - ➤ Surprise Police will use a backup dispatch service provided by Peoria if the Communication Center becomes inoperable — a free measure aimed at keeping both emergency and non-emergency calls answered. The Surprise City Council approved the deal on Aug. 5. Surprise Independent
