- ➤ The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety granted the Surprise Police Department $35,000 on August 12 to help cover DUI enforcement costs, which the City Council approved to pay for overtime and supplies—supporting public awareness and officer training. The funding boosts local efforts to curb impaired driving. Surprise Independent
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ OUAZ has begun selling single-game tickets for fall sports events, including football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball—football games will start on Sept. 6 at Spirit Field at 7 p.m. Tickets cost between $9 and $28 and include reserved seating and general admission—children under 12, seniors and military pay only $9.
