- ➤ Valley native Colleen Kelahan-Pierson, 29, competes today in Ireland’s Rose of Tralee festival to honor her late mother Kathleen who died last year from a brain aneurysm. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents near De Jong Dairy Farm have noticed a hay fire burning for weeks and said that smoke and odor have caused health concerns. Air quality inspectors issued a non-compliance notice as the dairy monitors the blaze daily with a water truck—and they expect the fire to burn out by Friday, August 22. ABC15
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell and other top prosecutors will be subpoenaed to testify in a special evidentiary hearing to decide if charges against pro-Palestine protesters were retaliatory—state law requires them to take the stand to protect First Amendment rights; it remains unclear if the office will challenge the ruling.
