- ➤ Surprise is hosting a guided tour of its Xeriscape Garden on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Water Education Center, 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza—where master gardeners and water conservation staff explain the benefits of desert-adapted plants. Surprise Independent
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Surprise-based WHAM Center for the Arts deepened its West Valley impact by inducting Roxy Garcia and Christina Panaitescu to its board on August 1—Garcia works with Credit Union West and the Peoria Chamber of Commerce while Panaitescu manages community partnerships in Goodyear. The art center plans to expand its local outreach and art programs to benefit the broader community. Surprise Independent
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Surprise is holding its monthly household hazardous waste collection program from Sept. 8 to 11 for electronic waste and all other hazardous materials—residents can schedule a driveway pickup using the My Surprise app or by calling customer service at 623-222-1920 on a first-come, first-served basis.
