- ➤ Surprise residents can drop off up to 2,000 pounds of non-hazardous waste for free at the Northwest Regional Landfill on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. — each household may bring one load and must show a driver’s license and utility bill to prove residency while hazardous items are not accepted. - ➤ Surprise teen Sutton Seigel created a custom t-shirt with help from the State Forty Eight team to raise funds for Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s inflammatory bowel disease program. She unveiled her design on August 27 at the Parsons Wish House—she now sells the shirts online as part of Make-A-Wish Arizona’s Summer of Wishes campaign. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Ronda Smith will discuss the importance of water at a plant-based potluck at Clearview Fellowship Hall—19554 N Papago Dr in Surprise on Sunday, September 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and donations are welcome to help cover the speaker’s costs. Surprise Independent
