- ➤ A valley mom on the verge of eviction got help from an ABC15 viewer who connected her with recruiting professional Andres Aguirre — who fixed her resume so she secured a business analyst job. She thanked him on air and said her new work will help cover rising rent costs. ABC15
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Surprise resident Bob Maxey, 72, used his 30 years of business experience to write a book in just three weeks that exposes secrets of corporate practices. The book, 'The Great Corporate Lie: An Autopsy of the American Corporation,' began sales on Aug. 18 and has already sold several dozen copies on Amazon—showing growing interest. Surprise Independent
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The IRS-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program seeks Surprise volunteers to help low- to moderate-income families with free tax preparation services. Information sessions and training for roles (tax preparers, greeters/screeners, interpreters) will be available at the Surprise Resource Center and Riverboat Bingo from today through November 6. - ➤ The city of Surprise will upgrade the traffic signals at the Cactus—Reems intersection by adding flashing yellow arrows in all directions. The work will take place overnight from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Thursday and Friday—police will direct traffic and restrict left and right turns during the improvements. Surprise Independent
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A local nurse has urged Maricopa County voters to support Prop 409, a bond measure that will help Valleywise Health add a new behavioral health center and expand emergency, pediatric, and maternity services—steps aimed at supporting low-income and underserved communities.
