CULTURE NEWS

  • Surprise Fiesta Grande will offer Mexican music at a free event on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Mark Coronado Park where Louis S. & the Band, The Reminisce Band and The Arizona Squeezbox Kid will perform while guests can enjoy folklórico dancing, Lucha Libre shows and piñata busts. Officials will check bags at entry and accept canned food donations for Valley View Community Food Bank.  Surprise Independent

ECONOMY NEWS

  • If you want to buy an electric vehicle or install a solar system, federal tax credits – which save money – are ending soon. The credits for vehicles will stop at the end of this month and the credits for energy upgrades will end by the year’s end.  ABC15

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Surprise Mayor Kevin Sartor presented the Constitution Week Proclamation to the White Tank Mountains Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at their first 2025–2026 meeting, recognizing Constitution Week — Sept. 17–23 — in honor of the U.S. Constitution and marking the approach of America 250; Regent Marilyn Simleness accepted the proclamation on Sept. 6 and the group hosted Constitution-themed quizzes, prizes, and a historic Watergate Cake while planning tomorrow’s Bells Across America event outside City Hall and a follow-up meeting on Oct. 4 at Happy Trails.  Surprise Independent

HEALTH NEWS

  • Surprise will host a free dementia awareness fair at the Surprise Regional Library on Saturday, Sept 27 from 9 a.m. to noon—featuring presentations by local health experts and a proclamation by Mayor Kevin Sartor to connect families, caregivers, and friends with vital resources.  Surprise Independent
  • Applications for the Rural Health Transformation Program opened today—healthcare advocates in Arizona worry that rural areas may not receive a fair share of the $50 billion federal investment. State officials are gathering data from providers to plan measures that include improving hospital access and housing, and Dr. Oz said a state’s rural population will definitely matter in the fund distribution.  ABC15
