- ➤ ALDI opened its second store in Surprise on Oct. 2 after years of local demand; city officials including Mayor Kevin Sartor and Councilmember Patrick Duffy celebrated the ribbon-cutting at 17038 W. - ➤ Surprise officials are offering free sand and sandbags at five locations—Water Well Site at 16849 W. Jomax Road, AZ TechCelerator at 12425 W. Bell Road, Fire Station 302 at 18600 Reems Road, and temporary sites at 219th Avenue and Deer Valley Road plus 183rd Avenue and Norwich Drive—for residents in flood-prone areas as heavy rain is forecast due to Hurricane Priscilla.
