- ➤ Surprise’s Countryside Recreation Center will host a Halloween Monster Bash on Friday, Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 15038 N. Parkview Place with dancing, games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, snacks and a costume contest. The event costs $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents, while children aged 2 and under are free + pre-registration is required due to limited space. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Independent Newsmedia has released its 2026 Scenic Arizona Calendar for $5 each, two for $8, or five for $15—orders can be placed by calling 623-972-6101, and the calendar features work by local photographers from Sun City, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and more. Surprise Independent

- ➤ On Oct. 18th, thousands gathered along Bell Road in the Northwest Valley for a series of 10 peaceful No Kings protests, with organizers estimating 8,061 participants across several intersections from Phoenix — Surprise to Glendale and Peoria.
