- ➤ Surprise-based Epic Networking will move to Waddell on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Corral at White Tank Ranch—20300 W. Olive Ave., with free admission, food provided, and country line dancing at 7. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Surprise Parks and Recreation will host a three-day Thanksgiving camp at Sierra Montana Recreation Center from November 24 to November 26 for children in kindergarten through seventh grade, offering daily activities, arts and crafts, games and sports from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration opens for residents, who pay $30 per day plus a $10 fee per child, while non-residents will pay $34 per day plus a $30 fee per child starting October 24—spaces are expected to fill quickly. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Michael Osborn, a Valley veteran, was evicted during a long hospital stay for heart surgery and blood clots, leaving him homeless, but a local program—St. Vincent de Paul and Ozanam Manor—helped him file a VA claim and secure stable housing. ABC15
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Two major pickleball tournaments — Monster Smash, a sanctioned double-elimination event for doubles and mixed play set for Oct. 24 to Oct. 27, and the Surprise Cup Team Challenge scheduled for Dec. 12 to Dec. 14 — will be held at Surprise Community Park courts at 14534 W.
