- ➤ The Surprise Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 in the Conference Room at the Parks and Recreation office — 15960 N. Bullard Ave. The seven-person board advises the city council on parks and programs and is still seeking two volunteers. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Tesla plans to launch its autonomous vehicles in the Valley by the end of the year, CEO Elon Musk said on a Wednesday earnings call + the rollout will need further regulatory approvals. The company began testing self-driving cars with safety drivers in September after receiving approval from the Arizona Department of Transportation. ABC15
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ AP microeconomics and economics classes at Valley Vista High School completed a simulation exercise where nearly 300 students used worksheets with career, salary, credit score and family details to plan their budgets. The Arizona Council on Economic Education worked with local banking professionals and school staff to run stations that tested expense choices —teaching students real-life financial lessons. - ➤ City officials are accepting entries for the annual Surprise Veterans Day parade until Friday, Oct. 31 for residents and organizations to show their patriotic spirit. The parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 along Bullard Avenue between Paradise and Tierra Buena lanes—live music and activities will follow as part of the America 250 Celebration.
