- ➤ Arrowhead Towne Center will host Cookies with Claus and Santa Story Time where Mrs. Claus and Santa will lead reindeer games, crafts, cookie decorating, and holiday tunes—fun activities for children and families. Surprise Independent
- ➤ On Veterans Day, local restaurants and stores offered free meals and car washes to honor veterans for their service. Many veterans gathered at The Grand’s Veterans Monument, where live music filled the air and a moment of silence was observed at 11:11 a.m.—a service that left a lasting impact on the community. - ➤ The city of Surprise is inviting local businesses, outreach organizations and promotional vendors to join next month’s Surprise Party holiday event, scheduled for Dec. 5 to Dec. 6 at the Surprise Recreation Campus—vendors will host promotional booths for advertising only, costing $750 for business and $150 for nonprofits and requiring attendance on both nights. - ➤ St. Mary's Food Bank is 10,000 turkeys short of its goal to feed 24,000 families ahead of Thanksgiving. Holiday food distributions will be held Nov. 24-26 in Surprise and Phoenix—donations are accepted daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. ABC15
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Jet's Pizza is now serving customers in Surprise City Center after its pre-launch ribbon cutting on Oct. 30; owner Matt DeYoung and Mayor Kevin Sartor led the event + employees like TJ Brown, Shane DeYoung, Eric Johnson, and Josh Quick joined the celebration. The restaurant serves square pizzas daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and stays open an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kaity’s Way—a nonprofit started in 2008 after the tragic loss of Kaitlyn Sudberry—offers free workshops that help Arizona teens learn the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships, including digital red flags. The program uses a research-supported model that outlines ten healthy and ten unhealthy behaviors to aid in early detection of dating abuse. ABC15
