- ➤ Two weeks ago, Valley resident Glenn Rey rushed into a burning apartment to rescue a trapped man and saved the man's cat by performing CPR until it breathed again, with fire crews arriving moments later and the man now recovering in hospital. ABC15

- ➤ To My Surprise Airport Shuttle will move its operations from 12425 W. Bell Road in Surprise to 19436 N. R.H. Johnson Blvd. in Sun City West by the end of the year—this move offers a chance to build lasting local ties. Surprise Independent
- ➤ Sierra opened its first Arizona store at 14059 N. Prasada Parkway in Surprise on Nov. 22 — the event featured a DJ, giveaways, and a hidden tag activity that awarded some shoppers a Sierra gift card. Surprise Independent
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Dysart Unified School District—the largest employer in Surprise and El Mirage—will hold a career fair from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 10 at the Dysart District Office at 15802 N. Parkview Place, where job seekers can walk in to apply for positions such as teaching, child care, maintenance, bus driving, and food service while bringing a current resume for an interview. - ➤ Surprise launched Alert Surprise— a free emergency notification system that sends texts, emails or voice calls to alert residents in life-threatening situations. Users who register and add location details can receive targeted alerts at home, work or school. Surprise Independent
- ➤ A letter from Arizona LD29 GOP chair Lisa Everett said that facts matter over rumors about Project Baccara—a proposed data center near Surprise that will use a closed-loop cooling system to conserve water and a natural gas power plant to manage energy while meeting noise and air quality standards.
