- ➤ Valley families are trading toys for tacos as Mesquite Fresh Street Mex hosts its annual Tacos 4 Toys event to brighten Christmas for children in foster care. The event, which for five years has partnered with the Foster Alliance and donated 18,000 toys last season, will continue to support kids in need. ABC15
- ➤ Surprise is hosting a sock donation drive as part of its December day of service event and community members can drop off new socks from December 1 through December 12. Donations are accepted at Surprise Regional Library (open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon-Thurs, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fri-Sun), Asante Library and the Surprise Senior Center (open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays). - ➤ Surprise will host a holiday workshop where families can take photos with Santa from (5:30 to 8:30 p.m.) from Dec. 11 through Dec. 13 at the Surprise Stadium Team Shop (15930 N. Bullard Ave.). - ➤ Lottery officials said on Monday that a Triple Twist ticket bought at the Safeway at 17230 W. Peoria Ave in Surprise was worth more than $1.47M with winning numbers 12, 17, 18, 19, 41 and 42. The store also sold a Powerball winner ticket from Nov. 26 with matching numbers 7, 8, 15, 19 and 28—its Powerball number 3 makes it worth $150,000. Surprise Independent

- ➤ Consumers can support the local art community by visiting the Ground Floor Artists annual art market at 13343 W. Foxfire Drive throughout December, where original handiwork and unique gifts are on sale.
